Meet the seller: Katie of Pretty_Trinkets

Katie Owens of Pretty_Trinkets.
Katie Owens’s shop, Pretty_Trinkets, has thousands of pieces, most of them vintage costume jewelry. If you’ve browsed earrings here lately, you’ve almost certainly scrolled past a few of hers.
We asked Katie a few questions to get to know her and her shop. Her answers are below, lightly tidied and otherwise in her own words.
How did you get started selling jewelry?
“I’ve been selling jewelry since I was 16 years old. Some pieces I made, and some were my own that I decided to resell.
I sold other things too, but jewelry was always my passion. I love the sparkle, the variety, and how it makes you feel special when you find just the right piece.”
What do you love about vintage costume jewelry?
“I mainly specialize in vintage costume jewelry these days, but I have some other pieces thrown in.
I love bringing life back to pieces and helping them find a new home where they’ll make someone’s day or complete an outfit.
Vintage pieces hold up so much better than the mass-market stuff we see today. I have pieces from the 1950s that look brand new!”
Is there a sale that’s particularly memorable?
“I often get notes from people who’ve bought my jewelry. One woman even sent me a handwritten thank-you card.
She’d bought a pair of earrings from me that were identical to a pair her husband had given her in the 1980s. Unfortunately, she’d lost one at an airport and had never been able to find another pair.
She was overjoyed when she spotted mine for sale and could finally replace the missing earring.”
Katie’s picks for someone discovering her shop
We asked Katie where a first-time visitor should start. She picked three pieces (with a few thousand to choose from, this took some restraint).
1. 1980s glam

“If you’re looking to feel that ’80s or early ’90s glam, I’d suggest these. They’re big statement pieces that really reflect the era.”
2. Make a statement without earrings

“Not a fan of earrings but still want to make a statement? This chunky cuff bracelet can go with so many outfits and is sure to bring in compliments.”
3. For an evening out

“Have a night out planned but just can’t find anything that looks expensive without the price tag? These earrings give an expensive, regal look without breaking the bank.”
What made you decide to try StillSparkly?
“There are lots of resale sites these days, but none just for jewelry.
On sites that have clothes and other things as well, the good stuff is often drowned out by mass-market items at marked-up prices or listings filled with AI photos, so you can’t see what you’re getting.
StillSparkly offers a one-stop shop for jewelry without having to navigate through thousands of listings of the same mass-produced item.”
